Clean Up Australia day: March 5th 2017

Ignite 2017 started off with a bang at our annual Clean Up Australia day at Redhead beach. We had over 50 volunteers come along. Our mission was to clean up beautiful Redhead beach and once again we succeeded beyond expectations. As always our Ignite community of volunteers were honoured to work alongside the Redhead Sustainability Community Group. A huge thanks also goes to Whitebridge Butchery and Redhead Bakery for their generous discounts which enabled us to supply our hard working volunteers with our traditional egg and bacon rolls. Let’s continue the clean up effort throughout the year. It’s so easy to take a bag on your morning walks and pick up a few bits of rubbish on your way. It’s the least we can do for our beautiful planet.



Sleepout for the homeless

October was Ignite’s sleepout for the homeless at the Valentine Scout Hall. It was a great night where we raised funds in support of the Soul Café. Soul Café does amazing work with the homeless and vulnerable in our community and we were honoured to support them. We look forward to other opportunities to support Soul Café throughout 2017.



Curry night fundraiser for women’s refuge

Ignite’s 4th annual curry night fundraiser for the Women’s Refuge was another raging success. August 22nd fell on a Monday this year and we once again reached our limit of 100 attendees.

What a night it was for all those lucky enough to be there. A huge thanks goes out to Claire and Pete and their trusty crew of helpers. We all had such a feast! It was amazing to have our beautiful Refuge workers present again.

Thanks Suellyn and Bridgette for providing us all with a little insight into the amazing things that happen in the refuge. We quite literally filled a room full of beautiful supplies and gifts for women and children who stay at the refuge

Any one of us could hit tough times and it makes such a difference to know that people care. Ignite’s 4th curry night has relayed that message of love and care perfectly

We were also able to pass on $500 to the refuge which will go towards providing much needed linen for a new project that is currently being developed. A massive thanks goes to everyone involved and we look forward to next year’s curry night fundraiser.



Clean up Australia day: March 6 2016

We had a great kick off to the Ignite Year with participation in Clean Up Australia day 2016.

Our mission was to clean up Redhead beach and we achieved this in style!

This is such a simple but fulfilling way to spend the morning and when there’s egg and bacon rolls on offer who can complain?

It was an honour to help out the local enthusiastic team at Redhead Sustainability Community. Clean up Australia day participation is an Ignite tradition now and we intend to keep it that way!




Women’s Refuge Charity Drive

The month of April was incredible for Ignite volunteers.

We had a call out from our local women’s refuge to provide for a young mother in need. A message was circulated throughout our Ignite volunteer member list as well as the Redhead community and the response was overwhelming.

We had to do 4 separate drop offs to the refuge and the staff there were amazed at the quality and variety of donations. This charity drive touched so many hearts.

A special mention must go to the beautiful 8 year old Redhead community member who requested her Christmas gift last year to be a hamper of goodies to pass on to children in need.

It makes all the difference for women and children in such vulnerable situations to know they are loved and cared for by complete strangers. Thank you Ignite Community members for your generosity.
